Marriage as a Deep Breath

Marriage as a Deep Breath

As parents of four adopted children, three biological children and a host of foster kids, Beth and her husband Todd have fought for two and a half decades to stay connected in their marriage relationship.  Willing to share vulnerably their cautionary tales, and best practices, Beth will address the unique pressures of a family in ministry. This is not for a PG audience, and she will be frank about issues relating to conflict resolution, intimacy and missional marriage.

SoulCare

SoulCare

We cannot lead where we have not been. So how then can we lead our children to healing, rest and healthy lives if we are not first examining our own souls and seeking that for ourselves? We will gently examine areas that might need healing, rest or better healthy practices and work together to make tangible plans to address those areas.

We often arrive at conferences like this exhausted and wanting quick answers for “broken” families or children, but perhaps it all begins with us. In this pre-conference, we will offer ourselves the gift of a day spent in reflection, grace and giving ourselves space. We will honor our own “broken” spaces, our grief and our pain. We will grieve those hard things and move toward healing. We will learn ways the body, mind and soul heal and leave with tangible plans to bring that healing into our everyday lives.

Embracing Your LGBT Kids (and Finding Peace, Joy, and Contentment)

Embracing Your LGBT Kids (and Finding Peace, Joy, and Contentment)

Whether you already know you are the parent of LGBT kids, or think you are, or simply wonder if one day you could be, chances are you have a wealth of questions and a dearth of answers. In this workshop, Mark will demonstrate that he does not have those answers either. Instead, through an interactive and experiential conversation, Mark will invite you to explore the perspectives he was taught by his kids and discover how connection, trust, and love are more useful guides than knowledge.

Date/Time: Friday, 11:30 am
Speaker: Mark Vatsaas
Room: Lobby Rm North
